COB 6008 – GOODWOOD REVIVAL
Top of the wish list for any amateur and professional driver has to be an entry in the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy Celebration race for Grand Touring cars built between 1960 and 1964, held each year at the Goodwood Revival. This event is open to a great variety of automobiles, from the legendary Ferrari GTO to E-Types, Corvettes and Aston Martins but one of the most popular cars has to be the AC Cobra. Sufficient requests are received each year to fill the grid with Cobras, but as entry is by invitation, only significant cars with race history are admitted and COB 6008 has been a stalwart of the event having received eight invitations. It has competed on a regular basis since 2001 when Derek Bell was a co-driver and in 2002 with Jochen Mass. Once in Kevin Kivlochan’s ownership it has been raced by been Marc Surer, Tony Jardine, Sir John Whitmore and Stefan Johansson. The one-hour, two-driver race is the highlight of the weekend and a stern test for any car – just finishing is an achievement!
